Xerophyte

A plant capable of surviving periods of prolonged moisture deficiency.

Young-of-the-Year

Fish produced in the current year’s spawn; fish less than 1 year old.

Zooplankton

Small, often microscopic animals that drift in currents. They feed on detritus, phytoplankton, and other zooplankton. They are preyed upon by fish, shellfish, whales, and other zooplankton.
